Using product data in other applications

The products displayed at the search results can be copied or dragged to other applications.

When products are copied or dragged to MatStream Bill Of Materials, then the item will be fully linked to the product from Product Information Center.

Copying product data to other applications

The copy features are supported on almost every Windows based application.

1. Select a product from the search results by clicking its record selector once. The row will be rendered blue, indication the row is selected.

2. Select Copy from the toolbar. The product data is now copied to the Windows clipboard.
3. Activate an other application like a spreadsheet application.
4. Use the paste function from the other application. The product data as displayed in the search results will now be pasted.

Dragging product data to other applications

Dragging product data is supported by most Windows based applications, but not by all. The application where to drag to, must support Ole-drag/drop.

1. Select a product from the search results by clicking its record selector once. The row will be rendered blue, indication the row is selected.
2. Click again on the record selector after you have selected it, but keep the mouse button pressed and start moving the mouse. The mouse pointer indicates where you can drop the product.
3. When you are on the window of the application where you want to drag to, then release the mouse button. The product data will be copied to the other application.

Also the files that are attached to the product can be copied or dragged to other applications. This is useful, when you want to send the attached documentation via e-mail to a client. Just drag the attached file to an e-mail message..., and send it.
