Configure MatStream for a network
You can only use a registered version on a
network. The shareware version can an may only be used on a pc for single use.
The data can not be shared with colleagues on a network.
When you have registered your version, then you can use MatStream on your
intra-network. You have to place the database files central on your network so
that these are available for the MatStream users.
Execute the next steps to arrange the network directories and to configure
the MatStream applictions.
- Select a network drive
Select a network drive with enough free space for the database tables and
the documentation that will be attached. We recommend a free space of 500MB
or more.
- Copy the complete 'Data' directory from your MatStream program directory
(by default 'C:\Program files\MatStream\Data') to the network drive.
Rename the copied directory 'Data' to somewhat more expressive like 'MatStrm'.
We recommend to put the directory right in the root of the drive.
For example: 'P:\MatStrm'
In this example is 'P:' the network drive and 'MatStrm' the directory for
the Product Information Management data.
- Copy the template directory
Copy the the complete directory 'Template' from your MatStream program
directory (by default 'C:\Program files\MatStream\Template') to the network
directory. This directory contain template files for export functions.
For example 'P:\MatStrm\Template'
- Setting up Product Information Center
Now we can change the reference to the database tables and the mapping
to the documentation. See Setting
up PIC for network use for information on how to do that.
- Setting up Bill Of Materials
When you have registered Bill Of Materials you can set it up for network
use. See Setting up BOM for
network use.
Both application are now configured for use on the network. When you login
the next time, the database files on the network will be used.
Users and user groups
Both application have their own permission structure, users an user groups. We
recommend that you use for both application the same user names and passwords.
See Adding users and user groups for information on how to create the accounts.
