Lesson 2 Searching a product in PIC

In previous chapter we have created a new product. Make sure that you closed the Product Data window and that you are now back on the main window of Product Information Center (PIC).

When we select the Find button from the toolbar and no search criteria are set, then all the products in the database will be shown in the search results.

By selecting a product and selecting the Properties button from the toolbar, the Product Data window will be displayed.

Using search criteria to find products

• Searching on Series/typenummer:
  Enter into the field Type/series the text 'examp' and press the <enter> button of your keyboard. The example product with type number 'Example nr 1' will be shown in the search results.
  
  Select the Clear button. All the main search criteria will be removed.
• Searching for all descriptions containing the text 'voo'.
  Enter into the field Description the text 'voo' and press the <enter> button of your keyboard. The example product with type number 'Example nr 1' will be shown in the search results.
  
  When you use the Clear button, all the search criteria will be removed. It is also posible to remove the search criteria one by one. Select the text 'voo' that you have entered and press the <delete> button of your keyboard. Press the <enter> button, to search again.

Searching products based on its properties

Search a product on the property 'Hight':
In the example we have added the property 'Hight' to the product. It is possible to find the product based on this property.
 

• Select the empty cell in the Property column of the Detailed search criteria section by clicking it with your mouse. A selection list with possible properties will be displayed.
• Select the property 'Hight' in the list. The example with type number 'Example nr 1' will be shown in the search results.
  You can select the value '1000' in the value column. Although this won't make a difference in this example because there is only one product with this property, but it can help you with your selection when you have more products.
